Every love story has a beginning—ours starts with two unique paths that led us to one unforgettable journey together. Get to know a little more about Shanique, Jason, and how we became 'us.'
Shanique’s Story
I grew up in Spanish Town, Jamaica, where my childhood was filled with books, school, church, activities like netball, and laughter with family. Summers were often spent in Brooklyn, New York — a place that, unknowingly, would become my second home.
In my late teens, I transferred from Immaculate Conception High School in Kingston to Frederick Douglass Academy VII in Brooklyn. It was a big move, but it opened the door to new opportunities. After graduating, I studied Biochemistry at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY — a journey that deepened my curiosity and my love for the different perspectives each person brings.
Each city I’ve lived in has added something beautiful to my story. In New York City, I built up lifelong friendships, celebrated birthdays with joy, and developed a deep love for travel. In Princeton, New Jersey, I embraced a slower pace — finding peace in cooking, reconnecting with God, and enjoying simple pleasures like wineries, biking, and serving my community. In Philadelphia, I fell in love with trying new foods, wandering through museums, and building a life grounded in both purpose and presence.
From Jamaica to Philly, one thing has never changed: my love for family, friends, and creating meaningful experiences. Showing up for the people I love brings me joy. I’m proud to be someone others can count on — and forever grateful to have people I can rely on too. Now, with Jason by my side, I’m stepping into the next chapter — one filled with even more love, laughter, and memories to come.
Jason’s Story
I grew up in Los Angeles, California, the youngest of three siblings, in a home filled with love, laughter, and lifelong learning. My childhood was shaped by simple joys—playing and watching sports, fiddling with all things business & tech-related, watching influential icons’ documentaries, attending church, and spending time with the people who matter most: my family and friends.
After high school, I initially moved across the country to attend West Point in Poughkeepsie, New York before transferring to Towson University in Maryland to complete my Bachelor’s degree in business administration. I then chose to stay on the East Coast after graduation to build a startup tech career in product management that continues to challenge and inspire me to this day.
Over the years, I’ve made incredible friendships and grown in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Life’s challenges have blessed me with the opportunity to become a more thoughtful, more grounded, and more grateful man my community can depend upon.
But some things never change—I still make time to visit family, play and talk sports, & catch a good documentary whenever I can. My faith in God, my lifelong relationships, and a good game of basketball keep me centered. And now, I’m stepping into the most exciting chapter yet—marrying Shanique and building a future together!
Our Story
It’s funny to think—we were both in Poughkeepsie during college, walking the same streets, probably passing each other without knowing! But God had a better plan for us and waited until we were both living in Philadelphia to finally bring us together.
From the moment we met, something just felt right. Our first date was filled with easy conversation, good food, and the kind of laughter that makes you forget you just met. Two weeks later, Jason asked Shanique to be his girlfriend—and let’s just say, neither of us have looked back since!
In the years that followed, we built a life full of love, joy, and shared adventures. We’re each other’s favorite travel buddy, museum date, and taste-tester. Our weekends are a blend of trying new foods, catching up with friends and family, and debating whether we’re watching NBA basketball or a Korean Soap Opera (spoiler: we usually compromise—eventually).
What really keeps us going is our deep love for God, our families, and each other. We've walked through wins and losses, career pivots and life plot twists—and through it all, we've only grown closer.
The past three years have been the sweetest love story we could’ve ever written. And now, we can’t wait to begin the next chapter as husband and wife!
